When cross platform party goes live, let's game.
Ahh, I didn't know that wasn't live yet! Add me on Steam, I'm arekdougy! It'll be sweet to have some folks to play with

and recently i was playing bodycon quest for the famicom just because it was a recent translation and i forgot what bodycon meant, and then i ended up playing it for a while
i keep accidentally running into eroge and enjoying it

I have no clue what people saw in NiGHTS or DMC.
Tacoma is a really well-told story and the best walking sim I ever played. It's also pretty...left-coasty? Like they made a masterpiece and hung a little cardboard 'turmp sux' sign on it.

Saw a preview for this game and it looks great.

A lot of pixel art games look great, but don't have that Genesis/SNES feel (this isn't a bad thing, btw. Just...a thing)
This game looks and sounds like a Genesis game that was unearthed in 2018.

Their last game, Odallus, is really good, and it really did feel like a genuine NES game that happened to age well. And before that, Oniken was kind of boring to me precisely because it was so authentic that I felt like I already played it too much in the '80s. They definitely understand that era.
Locomalito is the only other one I can think of right now who can really nail that feel.

The way the cape moves in Odallus reminds me of Batman for the NES.

It comes out Thursday so i’ll Let you know how it is then
Finally finishing up Golf Story before then. I took a break for a while and honestly it’s linear enough that it wasn’t a big deal. A lot of people said the game dragged on at the end but I guess since I took a break I’m not feeling fatigued by it

I'm heading up to Haida Gwaii to work for 5 months, I'm taking my Wii U and SNESmini to enjoy myself/hopefully finish off a handful of games. I'm near to beating BotW, would like to complete Zelda II, DK Tropical Freeze, Xenoblade Chronicles...and dig into the SNES games I haven't enjoyed like Secret of Mana.

I've mostly just been playing Rocket League and Cuphead on my PC...those games are kind of distillations of what I want from games. Crazy goofy competitive arcade-style action and oldschool difficult megaman/mario style platforming. Only missing out on RPGs, but I'll get that fix while I'm away.

Picross is legit tho
It's my favorite game to play on the can.
Light fall was okay. The platforming was decent, the level design was pretty good, but it was way too short. Also the final level was unfair...and the final boss was boring.
6.5-7/10.

fun fact: either "new" 2ds or 3ds are the perfect modding systems if you can find them without more recent firmware updates.
that said, the 3ds library is.... kinda lackluster. ;-;

3ds has some decent games but yeah it's not very memorable
It is pretty cool tho - if you have a 3DS and a GBA, you can play every mobile game nintendo has released
Game Boy
Game Boy Color
Game Boy Advance
DS
3DS
All on two systems

every time i consider a 2/3DS i find a few games, but then realize they are all DS games. plus the 3DS has that weird analog circle that you have to control, which reminds me of the analog circle that ruined many a game for me on PSP

i saw a deal for X1X for $315 last month and took the plunge. i've been playing 'hidden' because i'm not playing those bad addiction games anymore (so i probably won't be playing online games that much), but SMB2 seems okay.
my X1X review: HDR is incredible, probably the 2nd biggest improvement in gaming in the last 10 years (after the X1 trigger rumble motors). i just wish someone made monitors smaller than 27" with HDR.
***UPDATE: RETURNED IT***

Nemo, if you have a PC, Hollow Knight is out for that and is supposed to be an incredible metroidvania.
And there's a rogue like called "A robot named fight" which is parts metroidvania, roguelike, and cronenberg.
If I had no budget to worry about, there's a bunch of indies on Switch I'd love to get.

a robot named fight was created entirely by one guy
always think that's cool when someone can do that.
I'd love to do something like that but I really have no idea what kind of game I'd want to create.

I wouldn't mind learning how to code a game.
I think I'd probably make a contra clone to start off.

i just don't like the quarter-sucker approach to lives, especially when they deny you the ability to keep putting in 'quarters.' the whole idea that games aren't fun unless they force you to stop playing them entirely at some point is kinda silly to me. metal slug is great fun even though a neogeo emulator lets you just drop in as many quarters as you want.

Ye I think at this point "lives" in games are outdated
I like something that's challenging but not punishing- checkpoints, quick respawn. Things like shovel Knight, Celeste, super meat boy where there's obstacles but failure doesn't set you back too much.

Anything where the design makes it so that the challenge is optional but there’s a risk/reward to it is good, imo.
